'Maithri doesn't remember the damage caused to agriculture sector during Yahapalanaya Govt'
Parliamentarian Dilan Perera states that the Yahapalanaya government bought a kilogram of paddy from farmers for 36 rupees and the President has taken steps to obtain it from the present government at a guaranteed price of 50 rupees.
Addressing a media briefing held at the party headquarters, the MP further said that it was unfortunate that former President Maithripala Sirisena had forgotten about the agriculture in the country which was destroyed by the Yahapalanaya Government at a time when the maximum price for farmers' paddy had been granted.
He says that he does not easily shop for anyone who rules in any way in his personal political life and that he stands up only to find solutions to the challenges facing the country at that time.
Although there are crises for farmers, teachers and health workers in all walks of life, the MP emphasized that the moment is not about finding solutions to those crises, but about protecting the entire community from the current global pandemic.
He said that with the proper management of the present government, Sri Lanka has been able to surpass the developed countries of the world and develop a vaccination mechanism to protect the community from the new COVID pandemic.
Therefore, the current problem in the country is an attitudinal problem and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is making an effort to bring about an attitudinal change in the country by protecting the people from the pandemic situation, he said.
