National operation to purchase paddy to commence on 08 March
The Ministry of Agriculture states that a national operation to purchase paddy will be launched for a period of one month from 08 March to 07 April.
A special discussion in this regard was held at the Ministry of Agriculture yesterday.
Accordingly, this program will be implemented in six districts namely Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Ampara, Kurunegala, Hambantota and Batticaloa.
About 60 lorries a day are used to procure paddy, with a target of 6,000 metric tons per day.
