Committee to study MOUs and trade union proposals meet today
The Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to study the proposals submitted by the Ports Trade Unions regarding the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Port met again today (25).
The head of the subcommittee, Secretary to the Ministry of Ports UDC Jayalal told our news team that the meeting commenced at 8.30 am at the Ports Ministry.
He also said that the subcommittee would meet several more times this week.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Ports stated that in addition to the proposals submitted by the trade unions, the proposals contained in the MOUs reached with Japan and India will also be discussed at this meeting.
Thereafter, the recommendations will be included in the report to be prepared for submission to the Cabinet.
This Cabinet Sub-Committee consisting of 07 members was recently appointed to discuss and reach an agreement on the future course of action to be taken regarding the Eastern Terminal.
