Report on Digana tremors in two weeks
The report of the research team looking into the recent tremors in the Digana area in Kandy is due to be submitted in the last week of this month.
On the 19th, the Minister in charge of the subject Mahinda Amaraweera instructed the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau to submit a report on the tremors and a team of five experts left to inspect the affected areas.
Three tremors were reported in the area in a short period of time.
Initial investigations have revealed that the tremors were caused by the release of pressure from the limestone layers.
They will also look into see if there is any damage caused to the Victoria Reservoir wall from the tremors.
