Compensation for Crop Damage to be Provided Before End of Year
The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board says that compensation for crops damaged due to the recent extreme weather conditions and floods, will be provided before the end of the year.
Its Chairman Premasiri Jasinghe Arachchi says that the damage assessments have commenced by now, and that 15 teams have been assigned for this purpose.
He added that a compensation of upto Rs. 40,000 per acre will be provided to farmers who cultivated paddy, maize, soy beans, potatoes, chilli and big onions.
