Fourteen thousand acres of crops destroyed in Udawalawa due to arid weather.
210,652 people in 15 districts have been affected by dry weather that has affected the island.
Those districts are Ratnapura, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Badulla, Monaragala, Hambantota, Gampaha and Matale.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board says that three teams have been deployed today to calculate crop losses in the Udawalawa area.
Its chairman Maddumabandara Weerasekera said that information has been received that fourteen thousand acres of crops have been damaged in the Udawalawa area.
