Police arrest 13 suspects with sharp weapons in Jaffna
Police have arrested 13 persons in possession of firearms and drugs at a house in the Valvettithurai area in Jaffna.
The suspects were arrested in a raid carried out on a tip off that a group of armed men were at a birthday party.
Police also seized four swords, two motorcycles, weapons made using cycle and bicycle chains along with 'ice' and marijuana.
They are in their 20s and 40s and live in the Valvettithurai area.
Police are investigating whether the suspects are members of an armed gang that has been active in Jaffna in recent days or some other group.
The suspects are to be produced before the Point Pedro Magistrate's Court while the Valvettithurai Police are conducting investigations.
