Army Commander visits wounded war heroes at ‘Abhimansala-1’

Having concluded the Army blessing of the flags at the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura yesterday, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva visited the ‘Abhimansala - 1’ (Wellness Resort) at Anuradhapura where around 40 dependent War Heroes are being cared for. The customary practice coincided with the forthcoming 71st Army Day anniversary celebrations.

The Army Commander together with several senior officers visited the injured War Heroes and inquired about their wellbeing. During the interaction with the War Heroes, the Commander presented them with gift packs containing essential items for their personal use.

It was a touching moment for the Commander, who is well aware of the dangers that they had to face during the war and as a war veteran himself, is well aware of the pain and suffering these wounded war heroes are facing. Lt. Gen. Silva also found time in his busy schedule to join the inmates of Abimansala for lunch and share pleasantries.
