Sri Lanka conducts a record 10,740 PCR tests in a day

Sri Lanka conducted a record 10,740 PCR tests in a day yesterday (Tuesday).

Previously Sri Lanka had conducted just over 8000 PCR tests a day from between 600-1000 tests in the early stages.

The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said that 469,258 PCR tests have been conducted in Sri Lanka so far.

Meanwhile, 457 people tested positive for the coronavirus during a 24 hour period ending at 6am today.

The Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster rose to 5398 by this morning.

Of them, 1041 are employees of the Brandix factory in Minuwangoda and 4357 are close contacts.

A total of 8870 people have tested positive for the virus in Sri Lanka so far and 19 people have died.
