Commissioner General of Lands G.D. Keerthi Gamage says the fraudulent land deal linked to Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara was exposed after a complaint filed by Kumar and Yeheli Sangakkara and was submitted to him in January.

He told Sri Lanka Mirror that certain media institutions have reported the facts of this investigation in a misleading manner.

According to the Land Commissioner, Kumar & Yeheli Sangakkara had written to him urging to investigate a land deed they had obtained, as they had received information that those lands were transferred to them in a fraudulent manner.

Earlier, several media reports had accused Kumar Sangakkara’s wife of fraudulently transfering a land that was handed over by the Government to a low income family.

Posting a brief statement in his Facebook page, Kumar Sangakkara denied the allegations calling it malicious and false. (NewsWire)
