Eight journalists assigned for Independence Day celebrations test positive for Covid
Eight journalists who had been assigned to cover the Independence Day celebrations at the Independence Square were tested positive with COVID-19.
Director General of The Government Information Department Nalaka Kaluwewa told Mawbila newspaper that journalists were identified earlier this week when PCR tests were conducted on nearly 200 Journalists from print and electronic media.
Journalists who were assigned to cover the Independence day celebration were subject to PCR tests before they were allowed to participate in the event, he added.
Journalists who tested negative were allowed to cover the yesterday event while, those who were found infected with COVID-19 have been directed for treatment centers
