Sri Lanka to establish diplomatic relationship with Lichtenstein

Sri Lanka will establish diplomatic relationship with the Lichtenstein Government in the future.

A proposal in this regard put forth by the Foreign Minister has been approved by the cabinet of Ministers.

Lichtenstein which is a small country between Switzerland and Austria, has a Parliamentary democracy, and is reigned by a constitutional head of state.

Considered as one of the wealthiest countries in the world with higher industrial capability and manufacturing, mainly drugs, subtle correction equipment, and electronic equipment, its gross domestic product during the last year was US$ 5.8 billion.

Lichtenstein in also a member of the European Union and the United nations, currently maintaining diplomatic ties with many countries, including India and Pakistan.

The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to establish diplomatic ties with Lichtenstein following interest shown by the latter in this regard.

Lichtenstein has expressed keenness to develop friendship and cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally with Sri Lanka.

Taking into consideration the opportunity for investments and tourists having higher purchasing power, the cabinet has approved the proposal to establish diplomatic ties with the Lichtenstein Government.
