Burial Issue : Water Supply Minister says 2 areas identified where groundwater not found even 30 feet deep
With regard to the investigations on the possibility of allowing the burial of bodies of Covid-19 victims, Water supply minister Vasudewa Nanayakkara says that he handed over a report to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa of two locations, one in the Eastern Province and another in Mannar, where the groundwater is deep.
“Our Ministry experts have given a report with 2 areas where ground water is very deep. Marichchiikattu in Mannar and Eragama in Eastern province were identified as two locations where water cannot be found even 30 feet under the ground level” Minister Nanayakkara said.
Minister said that health experts can consider these 2 areas when they convene next to discuss Covid burial issue.
