Chinese Embassy donates Rs. 25 million to Defence Ministry to fight against COVID -19

The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka donated Rs. 25 million to the Defence Ministry on 15 December to be utilized to purchase equipment and materials required for the military personnel to fight against the COVID -19.

According to the directions of the Defence Secretary, the donation was given to the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, for speedy action to purchase the items.

On behalf of the People’s Liberation Armed Forces of China, Defence Attaché Senior Col. Wan Dong coordinated the event at the Ministry of Defence.

The Chinese Embassy has been extending its cooperation and support in numerous means to the Sri Lankan military during the COVID -19 pandemic situation in Sri Lanka. (Defense)
