Individual from Anamaduwa detected with COVID-19 for the third time – PHI

A 23-year-old youth from the Thenankuriya area in Anamaduwa has been detected with COVID-19 for the third time, according to Public Health Inspectors Union.

President of the Public Health Inspectors Association Upul Rohana said that the youth has been identified as a Sri Lankan immigrant worker who had returned from the United Arab Emirates on 18th August and had been detected with the virus for the first time while being treated at the Welikanda Hospital.

The youth had undergone self-isolation at his residence in Thenankuriya after being discharged from the Welikanda hospital.

He had been readmitted to the COVID-19 treatment facility at the Chillaw hospital on 17th September after showing symptoms of the virus while in self-isolation with his mother.

The second PCR test conducted on the youth has revealed that he had contracted the coronavirus for the second time.

The youth had thereafter been transferred to the Iranawila COVID-19 treatment centre.

The Anamaduwa PHI officers Unit had taken all necessary measures to disinfect the youth’s house and enable him to undergo self-isolation once again after being discharged for the second time from hospital.

However, after falling ill for the third time while in self- isolation, the youth was once again admitted to the COVID-19 treatment facility in Chillaw on 02 October.

The youth was found to have contracted the coronavirus for the third time after undergoing PCR tests.

This is the first instance in which an individual has been detected thrice with COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.
