Drone surveillance in isolated areas to continue: DIG Ajith Rohana

Sri Lanka Police will continue drone surveillance operations in isolated areas to monitor the conduct of the residents, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force, Police said on Wednesday (Nov. 25).

“As of today (Nov. 25), 117 people have been arrested for the violation of quarantine rules and regulations, based on drone operations,” Police Spokesperson – DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Moreover, a total of 73,884 people are currently self-quarantined, as instructed by health authorities.

“According to the quarantine law, they have to adhere to quarantine rules and regulations till the 14-day period is completed. They must stay at their residences and they should go out under any circumstances. Further, outsiders should not visit the places where the quarantine orders are in effect,” DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Community police officers have been instructed to monitor the areas where quarantine orders are in effect, the Police Spokesperson further noted.
