Parliamentary business committee to decide on police chief
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena will chair a meeting of the committee on parliamentary business tomorrow (23) to decide on the position of the police chief among other matters.
The committee is expected to approve C.D. Wickremaratne, who has been the acting IGP for 19 months, for the position as recommended by president Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
He counts 33 years in the Police Department.
The committee will also confirm the nominees to the court of appeal by the president.
