Proposal for alternative constitutional arrangement presented to PM

Alternative proposals for a new Constitution have been handed over to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday (16).

Chairman of All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Jagath Sumathipala and Maha Sangha had presented the document titled ‘A Proposal for an Alternative Constitutional Arrangement for Sri Lanka’ to the prime minister at his official residence in Wijerama.

The document was compiled by the National Policy Council and the subcommittee on Law, Public Administration, National Security and Foreign Policy of All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, the Office of the Prime Minister said.

The subcommittee consists of Ven. Vajiraramawasi Gnanasiha Thero and President’s Counsels Manohara de Silva, Palitha Fernando, Prasantha Lal de Alwis and Kapila Vaidyaratne, Dr Palitha Kohoma, Prof. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan, Ranjith Tennakoon, Dr Nimal Hettiarachchi and DIG (Retired) Nimal Wakishta.
