The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that 98 Sri Lankans who went abroad have died due to the coronavirus infection.
Its director general of the Covid unit, Kandeepan Bala, said the highest number of deaths was reported from Saudi Arabia.
Thirty-four Sri Lankans have died in Saudi Arabia, while 21 have died in Kuwait.
Also , 10 Sri Lankans in the United Arab Emirates, six in Qatar, four in Oman, two each in Bahrain and Jordan and one in Israel have died of coronavirus.
The foreign ministry said that five deaths of Sri Lankans have been reported in Britain, four in the United States and Canada, two each in Germany and Italy, and one in Iraq.
