Rs.330 mn NHDA funds gone waste last year

Rs. 330 million National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) funds have been misappropriated in the guise of housing projects last year, NHDA Director Sudath Abeywardane said.

According to him, 677 more housing units could have been built in addition to the 5,900 units built, if this amount had been debited to the NHDA fund. Abeywardane also said that a bulk of posters printed at a cost

of hundreds of thousands of rupees have been stored on the ground floor of the authority. These posters have been printed as per the intention of one single officer attached to the NHDA, he said.
